Privacy Policy
Last updated 24 August 2026
This policy explains what information Ejarmate collects during this pilot phase, why, and who can see it.
1. What we collect
- Account details: name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text).
- Profile details you choose to provide: age, gender, phone number, city, district, budget, move-in date, and lifestyle preferences used for roommate matching.
- A profile photo, if you upload one.
- Basic usage data, such as which roommates or properties you connect with or express interest in.
2. How we use it
Your profile is used to calculate compatibility with other Ejarmate users and to show you relevant rental listings. Your name and photo are visible to other users you are matched with. Your phone number is only revealed to another user after you (or they) choose to Connect — it is not shown by default.
3. Third parties
Property listings shown on Ejarmate come from Darak, a third-party rental data provider — we query their data to display listings but do not share your profile information with them. We use Resend to send account verification and password reset emails, and Vercel/Neon to host the application and database.
4. Data retention and control
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. You can update your profile at any time, and can ask us to delete your account and associated data.
5. Security
Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Access to the database is restricted. As with any early-stage pilot, no system is completely risk-free — please avoid sharing sensitive information beyond what's needed for roommate matching.
6. Changes to this policy
As Ejarmate moves out of its pilot phase, this policy will be updated to reflect any new features, production infrastructure, or regulatory requirements that apply.
